Actor Arvind Trivedi, who played Ravana in Ramanand Sagar's famous mythological serial 'Ramayana.' which aired on Doordarshan in the 80s, passed away at 11 pm on Tuesday. Arvind Trivedi, 83, breathed his last at home. This was reported by Actor Arvind Trivedi's daughter Ekta. She said that "he died at home and was not ill in any way. But he suddenly suffered a heart attack last night and died.'' As usual, he was laughing at us yesterday and chanting Shiva Mahima Sutra and 'Ram.'

Arvind Trivedi had gained tremendous popularity by playing Ravan in Ramanand Sagar's serial 'Ramayana.' He was originally from Indore in Madhya Pradesh. He acted in more than 250 Gujarati films. Arvind Trivedi had said in an interview that he was associated with theatre in Gujarat and came to know that Ramanand Sagar was making 'Ramayana' and casting roles so he came to Mumbai from Gujarat to audition. He wanted to play the role of Kevat.

He had said, "For the role of Ravan in this serial, everyone demanded that actor Amrish Puri be cast.'' I auditioned for the role of Kevat and when I started stepping out, seeing my body language and attitude, Ramanand Sagar Ji said, "I got my Ravan." Arun Govil himself admits that he and the team had told Ramanand Sagar that actor Amrish Puri fits perfectly for the role. Arvind Trivedi's role was so powerful that when his voice echoed on television as Dasanan Lankesh, it seemed that the real Ravana had hit the small screen.
