New Delhi: The government has started providing financial assistance to those who lost their lives from the corona. The Home Ministry of the Government of India had told the Supreme Court on September 22 that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has provided compensation of Rs 50,000 to the families of those who lost their lives due to corona infection. In pursuance of this compensation, the concerned family will have to submit the application to the concerned District Disaster Officer by attaching the covid-19 death certificate, Aadhaar card, bank account information of the beneficiary.
As per the instructions given to the State Governments, the families of those who lost their lives due to corona infection will be financially assisted by the State Disaster Response Fund and will be paid through the District Disaster Management Officer. In case of financial assistance, the documents of the concerned person like the Covid-19 Death Certificate, Copy of the Aadhaar Card etc. have to be handed over to the Disaster Management Officer of the district. The amount of financial assistance will be released within 30 days and the money will be credited to a bank account linked to Aadhaar.
As per the directions of the Union Government's Ministry of Home Affairs, many states have now issued notifications on financial assistance, applications are being invited through the District Disaster Management Officer concerned with the people. In Punjab too, compensation has been announced and district magistrates have been asked to hand over the details of the families of the deceased by October 15.
