The directorial debut was made by Bollywood producer Farah Khan from Main Hoon Na. The box office was a huge hit by Shah Rukh Khan, Zayed Khan, Sushmita Sen, and Amrita Rao. The role of an Army Officer was played by Shah Rukh Khan in the film, and Zayed Khan played his brother. However, you may be surprised to know that Shah Rukh's brother-in-law had been offered to actor Hrithik Roshan before Zayed and refused to work in the film because of his father Rakesh Roshan.
The famous film critic Rajiv Masand has revealed this in the weekly column of a Famous magazine, and he said, "Hrithik was all game to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan as his younger brother in Main Hoon Na but turns out his father felt that he should focus on solo-starrers more instead of doing another multi-hero after Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham.
Hrithik Roshan became an overnight star with the success of his debut film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, and Father Rakesh believed that Hrithik should set a different path instead of signing another multi-starrer film. The logic of Rakesh was seriously understood by Farah with Shah Rukh and he willingly allowed Hrithik to separate from the film. At present, Hrithik is enjoying the success of the Super-30 film.
