Kurnool: Srisailam temple located in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh state has earned Rs 4.69 crore through Hundi collection in last 39 days. Devotees have donated Rs 4.69 crore in the form of prasad which includes cash, 333 grams of gold and 8 kilograms of silver items. The counting process was done under strict surveillance and closed circuit cameras. Temple employees, officials and Shiva sevaks from all departments participated in the census.
Temple executive officer S Lavanna said in a press release that apart from gold, silver and cash, devotees also paid 159 USA Dollars, 15 Canadian Dollars, 1,500 Euros, 115 England Dollars, 13 Kuwaiti Dirhams, 3 Qatar Riyals and 2 Singapore Dollars. Foreign exchange has also been donated.
Srisailam is located in Kurnool district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Srisailam mandal in Kurnool revenue division. The city is famous for the Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga temple and is one of the holy pilgrimage sites for the Shaivism and Shaktism sects of Hinduism. The city is classified as both a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peeth. It is located approximately 180 kilometers (112 mi) from district headquarters Kurnool, 216 kilometers (134 mi) from Hyderabad as well as about 264 kilometers (164 mi) from Vijayawada.
