Hyderabad: Smugglers use new tactics to evade the customs department. But the new idea taken by the smugglers caught at Hyderabad airport crossed all limits of surprise. In fact, these smugglers had hidden a large quantity of gold in their rectum. The gold recovered from these 4 smugglers weighs 7.3 kg, estimated at around Rs 3.6 crore in the market.
According to reports, four Sudanese nationals reached Hyderabad on an Air India flight from Dubai. These included two men and two women. Officials said the customs department checked all of them on suspicion. The officials were also stunned when the search revealed such smuggling. Officials said they had hidden gold in their anus. The gold recovered is currently under the guard of the customs department. Further legal action is being taken in the matter. This is not the first time that smugglers have taken such a unique path. A smuggler was caught at Chennai airport in July this year. He had hidden about 810 grams of gold in his rectum. He had made a paste of this gold and packed it in four bundles and concealed it.
The gold recovered from the passenger from Dubai to India was estimated to be over Rs 40 lakh. Just a few months ago, another smuggler coming from a flight via Dubai-Hyderabad was arrested. The smuggler had pasted six kg of gold in a rechargeable lantern. The case is from October this year. It was only in October that airport authorities arrested a Sudanese woman while smuggling gold. The passenger had made and hidden 1200 grams of gold paste in his underwear and handbag.
