Hyderabad: The violence in the border area of Hyderabad in Telangana has been on the rise since the municipal corporation demolished a mosque. Protests over the mosque in Shamshabad have intensified there. However, there has been no response from the municipal corporation in this matter. The mosque was razed to the ground on Tuesday, two days before by the municipal staff.

A mosque was completely demolished by municipal authorities in Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad city. After the demolition of the mosque, a massive protest started on the spot. The masjid-e-khaja Mahmood, located in the Green Avenue colony of Shamshabad, was raided by municipal staff on Tuesday amid heavy police presence. The administration says that this mosque has been built illegally without permission. The action was followed by strong protests by local Muslim residents and leaders of various parties. The leaders of Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) have been protesting in the area for the past two days.

MBT chief Amzadullah Khan has said that the construction of the mosque was started three years ago and for the past two years, namaz was being offered here five times per day, including Jummah prayers. He said the Green Avenue Colony was plotted and sold on 15 acres of land after permission from Shamshad gram panchayat, in which two plots of 250 square yards were marked as a site for the mosque.
