On Saturday night, heavy rain caused floods in old city areas in Hyderabad. Heavy rains and tanks have submerged many colonies in old areas of the city, resulting in floods once again. Omar Colony, Hafizbabanagar C Block, Gulshan Iqbal Colony and Lalitabagh were most affected by heavy rain water release from the horse tank at Balapur. Two days ago, irrigation officials dug a channel on the road to release water from the Gurram tank as it came out heavily from the tank.

Water level here has risen and many vehicles have been washed away. However, there are no complaints that people have been missing or the building/wall collapsed. GHMC officials and NDRF team came into action and were busy saving those trapped inside the buildings in boats. Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar and other officials of GHMC have monitored the relief operations in the rain affected areas.

Meanwhile, the Al-Jubel colony was once again flooded on Sunday. As a local measure, colonial residents left for safe places yesterday evening after the rainwarning. MDRF teams and local youth cleared water ways to smoothly release water into Nara.
