Chennai: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has inaugurated its first fast electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Chennai, marking the beginning of its plan to establish 100 such stations across Tamil Nadu. Located at Spencer Plaza, the 180 kW DC fast charging station includes 150 kW and 30 kW connectors, serving compatible four-wheelers of any brand or model, according to a company statement.

Celebrating 28 years of HMIL in India, the company expressed its excitement about the new initiative. "We are thrilled to open our first 180 kW fast public charging station in Chennai. Aligning with Hyundai's 'Progress for Humanity' vision, we aim to make EV usage more convenient for all. Our charging stations are available to any four-wheeler EV user. We plan to install 100 charging stations across Tamil Nadu to boost the EV ecosystem and encourage more customers to adopt electric vehicles," HMIL stated.

EV owners can access the charging facility through HMIL's Charger Management System via the myHyundai App. This app allows users to locate and navigate to charging stations, pre-book slots, make digital payments, and monitor charging status remotely.

In addition to the new fast charging station, over 170 charging points in Tamil Nadu are mapped in the "EV Charge" section of the myHyundai App for customer convenience. This app is accessible to all EV users, not just those who drive Hyundai vehicles, the release added.
