Born in Durgapur, West Bengal, Sofia Parveen is a native of Amritsar and is currently based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. As a child, she used to be dynamic in participating in dance competitions. Her mother has been her biggest supporter throughout her childhood and continues even today. Little Sofia was curious about different dance forms as well. She remembers her mother encouraging her to participate in events, fancy dress competitions and dancing events.

Sofia has dedicated five years to learning modelling and theatre. During this time, she dedicated her time to understanding and refining her skills of acting, background singing, dancing as well as writing skits and plays. She acclaimed with surprise about her writing skills, that she had a writer in her which when showed up, was equally appreciated.

While in Mumbai, she praises the city for being a safe space for women. She feels the city has been successful in providing a professional and safe space for women. This, itself is an achievement and other parts of the country and world could look forward to a similar healthy environment.

However, with the opportunities, there were certain stigmas she had to face. Sofia recalls, that during her initial days in Mumbai, as a model, she saw a bias toward non-Indian or foreign girls in the industry. She strongly feels that the industry is sleeping upon the beauty of Indian women and that they should be the preference. The confidence and potential the Indian women have is immense and the industry should be focusing equally on them.

About her career, Sofia states that by the grace of God, both her modelling career and her acting career are going well. However, she feels a modelling career could be for a short period, and she would stick to the entertainment industry later. Moreover, she states that one of the life turning events for her was a campaign for a jewellery brand. She had the opportunity to move to Mumbai for the same and it proved to be a transformative event for her.

Sofia has been a part of several ad campaigns, music videos and commercials. Her first break was through T-Series via a music video 'College' by Preet Harpal, the other two were for White Hill Music called 'Dark' by Pavii Ghuman, 'Teri Hoi Na' by Preet Sukh. She has done commercial Ads for IPL Star Sports, Rummycircle.com and ICICI bank. She has also been a part of the ramp show for Pankaj and Jitesh and modelled for “Pushkar Bridal”, “Label Shalini Khanija”, “Preeti Diamond Jewellery”, “Sonali Jain Fashion”, “Angel Jewels” and several others.

She also shares her complex journey with food. Food is the source of nutrients and energy and also affects the overall well-being of a person. Alike a regular person, Sofia has had her ups and downs, however, she came back stronger after each low. Her mother and her sister have been her major supporters.

Sofia is an inspiration to the ones who dream big and are passionate enough to pursue their dreams. A strong support system, either parents, siblings, friends or even mentors can help one sustain even in the most strenuous times.
