The small screen's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa made its debut last weekend (September 3). Amruta Khanvilkar and Gashmeer Mahajani are two of the 12 contestants' most formidable rivals. The judges gave Amruta a standing ovation for her debut performance in the grand premiere episode and said she has a good chance of making it to the finale as well. Meanwhile, Gashmeer equally wowed the judges and the audience with his incredible dance performance.
This weekend, viewers can watch as the two Marathi actors from the programme square off against one another. Amruta admits that despite her years of performing, she has never done a dance number while wearing a four-inch heel.
Amruta will step up her dancing this week and take on the challenge of performing the New York Street style dance forms, "Voguing" and "Waacking," which are outside of her comfort zone. When asked how she overcame her fear of dancing in heels, Amruta remarked, "Dance has been an important element of my acting journey, with Indian dance being my forte. The most terrifying experience of my life was performing while wearing four-inch heels in front of my idol Madhuri Dixit and the distinguished judges. Before going on stage, I was scared and anxious, but my choreographer partner Pratik Utekar gave me the confidence to try out a new dance style. It takes a certain amount of energy and spunk to perform voguing and waacking, and I think I did my best to do this style justice.
The weekend episode will feature two-fold entertainment, drama, and surprises. For example, Dheeraj Dhoopar will reveal the name of his newborn child for the first time, Nia Sharma will make everyone cry with her struggle tale, judge Karan Johar and host Maniesh Paul will perform a duet, and there will be many other surprises.
