New Delhi: The date of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting from 29 March has been extended. In view of the Coronavirus outbreak, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has postponed IPL matches to 15 April this year. Indeed, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the coronavirus an epidemic. Immediately following the announcement by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Indian government has banned the visa of all foreign travelers until 15 April, in view of the threat of dangerous coronavirus infection.

Due to these restrictions, no foreign players will be able to come to India to play in the Indian Premier League this year. On the other hand, the Sports Ministry has told all other National Sports Federations, including BCCI, that if any competition is organized in the country amidst threats of Coronavirus, it will have to be held between closed doors. This means that the IPL also has to be conducted without an audience.

In view of this, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has ordered no IPL matches to be held till 15 April. After the ban on the visa is over, the IPL matches will be started from 15 April. It is hoped that by then the corona havoc will also cool down.
