New Delhi: Pay equity for men and women was introduced in Durban, which was a significant decision. The BCCI had previously applied this idea in Indian cricket. Men and women will henceforth be awarded equal prize money at international competitions as a result of the ICC board's approval of this proposal.
When the Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee (F&CA) met the day before the annual conference, Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, made the original proposal to adopt equal prize money.
The BCCI secretary expressed his joy over this crucial move towards gender balance and inclusivity in a social media post.

"I am thrilled to announce that a major step towards gender parity & inclusivity has been undertaken. The prize money at all @ICC events will be the same for men & women. Together we grow. I thank the fellow Board members for their support in helping achieve this important endeavour. Let's work towards a future where cricket continues to thrive across the globe," the BCCI secretary said in a social media post after the meeting concluded.

Although the precise amounts of the earnings have not yet been decided, the women's team will share in the $5 million prize money earned by the Indian men's team if they win the World Cup in November.
"The decision was made at the ICC Annual Conference in Durban, South Africa, and ensures that the ICC Board fulfills its commitment to achieving prize money equity by 2030, well ahead of schedule. Teams will now receive equal prize money for equivalent finishing positions at comparable events, as well as the same amount for winning a match at those events," stated the ICC in an official statement.

Teams will be paid the same amount for each match played and the same amount for winning, despite the fact that the prize pools' sizes vary due to differences in the number of teams and games. As a result, each Cricket World Cup final winner will take home an equal amount of cash.
ICC Chair Greg Barclay said: "This is a significant moment in the history of our sport, and I am delighted that men's and women's cricketers competing at ICC global events will now be rewarded equally. Since 2017 we have increased prize money at women's events every year with a clear focus on reaching equal prize money and from here on in, winning the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup will carry the same prize money as winning the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup and the same for T20 World Cups and U19s too."
