New Delhi: Due to the slow over-rate in the first ODI against New Zealand, the Indian team has been fined heavily. The match was played on 18 January at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. In this match, India was fined 60 percent of the match fee for a slow over-rate against New Zealand. Emirates ICC Elite Panel Match Referee Javagal Srinath has informed that India bowled 3 overs slower than the stipulated time. The time allowance was taken into account before arriving at the verdict.

Explain that, according to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 20 percent of their match fees for every over they fail to bowl in the allotted time. India captain Rohit Sharma accepted the charge leveled by on-field umpires Anil Chaudhary and Nitin Menon, third umpire KN Ananthapadmanabhan and fourth umpire Jayaraman Madangopal. Because of this, there was no need for a formal hearing.
