On Tuesday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) released a list of 87 private labs to test the coronavirus (COVID-19). Maharashtra has the maximum 20 coronavirus test labs out of 87 labs installed in 15 states. Maharashtra is one of the most affected states in the country in the number of coronavirus cases.

Apart from Maharashtra, 12 labs in Telangana, 11 in Delhi, 10 in Tamil Nadu, 7 in Haryana, 6 in West Bengal, 5 in Karnataka, 4 in Gujarat, and Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan , 2 in Uttar Pradesh and one each in Uttarakhand and Odisha.

Regarding the matter, the Indian Council of Medical Research said that till 9 pm on April 21, a total of 4 lakh 62 thousand 621 samples of 4 lakh 47 thousand 812 persons have been tested in the country. In addition to this, 26 thousand 943 samples have been taken till 9 pm on 21 April. Many Indian institutions have shown interest in using plasma therapy of cured patients for treatment of Covid-19. ICMR has received applications from 99 such institutions, who are willing to cooperate in using the treatment in a more controlled and safe environment. On 12 April, the ACMR had announced to research plasma method for treatment of Covid-19 and asked to contact the interested institutions.
