Mumbai: Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, head of Islamic organization Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, has given a big statement on Sunday (May 21) on the issue of banning Hinduist organization Bajrang Dal. Madani said in Mumbai that the Congress in its manifesto (Karnataka) had talked about banning Bajrang Dal, a sectarian group. If he had taken this decision 70 years ago, the country would not have been ruined.

Syed Arshad Madani further said that 'when he said this, there was hue and cry that the Congress made a mistake by making this promise in its manifesto. But, I understood that this is not a mistake, but my mistake is being rectified. Had Bajrang Dal been banned 70 years ago, the country would not have been ruined today.' However, it is also worth noting that the Bajrang Dal, which Maulana Madani has been talking about banning 70 years ago, was established in Uttar Pradesh on October 1, 1984 and started spreading across the country in 2010.

Let us tell you that the Congress, in its manifesto for the recently concluded Karnataka assembly elections, had talked about taking strict action against organizations like the Bajrang Dal and banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI). However, it is a different matter that the Congress contested the Karnataka elections in support of the SDPI, the political wing of the same PFI. The Congress had said that decisive action would be taken against organizations like Bajrang Dal and PFI for spreading hatred on the basis of caste and religion in the state. There was a lot of ruckus on this announcement of the Congress.
