New Delhi: Due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, many Indian students have returned home, while many are still stranded there. Most of the Indian students who are stranded in Ukraine had gone there to study medicine. Efforts are on to bring back the Stranded Indians safely in Ukraine. For this, the Government of India has launched a massive rescue operation, which has been named as Operation Ganga. 

Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi spoke to the Indian students who have returned from Ukraine, who have become battlefield, PM Modi discussed with the students about the status of medical education in India and also conveyed his condolences to the students and families who had expressed their anger and resentment towards the Indian government due to the hardships faced while leaving Ukraine. PM Modi said that "it is natural to get angry in such a time of trouble. When their anger is cold and they understand our efforts, the same people will also express their love."

PM Modi further said that "if the policies of medical education in India were already right, you people would not have to go to another country to study. No parent wants to send their children away from them at such a young age," PM Modi said, adding that his government was working to rectify past mistakes. "Earlier, in the country, where there used to be 300 to 400 medical colleges, now their number has increased to around 700. With the increase in the number of medical colleges in India, medical seats have also increased. Earlier, there were 80,000 to 90,000 seats, now it is about 1.5 lakh."
