New Delhi: According to a new notification by the Transport Ministry, state Enforcement Agencies will have to issue notices to the offender within fifteen days of the offence related to violation of traffic rules and store electronic records up to the disposal of challans.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a notification under the Amended Motor Vehicles Act, 1989 for electronic surveillance and enforcement of road safety, which will use electronic devices to issue challans. The ministry tweeted that "The crime information will be sent within fifteen days of the crime incident and electronic records collected through electronic surveillance should be stored till the challan is disposed of."
Under the new rules, electronic devices will be used prominently to comply with traffic laws. These include a motion camera, CCTV camera, speed gun, body camera, motor dashboard camera, automatic number plate identification device (ANPR), weighting machine and other technology.
