01 Keladi Kanmani
The melodious number Chandni Raat Hai from Baaghi (1990) was inspired by Keladi Kanmani from Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal (1989). Baaghi also featured the inspired version of Raja Rajadi Raja from Agni Natchathiram (1988). The song was Tap Tap Tapori by Amit Kumar. Music for Baaghi was by Anand-Milind.
02 Ilaiya Nila Pozhigiradhe
When Payanangal Mudivathillai (1982) was remade in Hindi as Kalaakaar (1983). The Tamil chartbuster composed by Ilaiyaraaja was sung by the legendary SP Balasubrahmanyam, the Hindi version Neele Neele Ambar Par was sung by the legend Kishore Kumar. Music for Kalaakaar was by Kalyanji-Anandji with lyrics by Indeevar.
03 Inji Iduppazhaga
Director Priyadarshan made his foray into Hindi films with Virasat (1997). Music director for Virasat was Annu Malik. The track sung by Kumar Sanu and KS Chithra became extremely popular. The original version was sung by Kamal Haasan and S Janaki. Interestingy, S Janaki and KS Chithra both won the National Awards for the song in their respective numbers.
04 Rakamma Kaiya Thattu
The film Bol Radha Bol (1992) is remembered for the super hit number Tu Tu Tu Tu Tara, it was inspired by one of the legendary compositions of Ilaiyaraaja, Rakkamma Kaiya Thattu. While the Tamil version was sung by SP Balasubrahmanyam and Swarnalatha, the Hindi version was by Kumar Sanu and Poornima, which had music by Anand Milind.
05 Oh Priya Priya
Mani Ratnam’s Telugu film Geethanjali was dubbed in Tamil as Idhayathai Thirudathae and released in 1989. The film’s music was by Ilaiyaraaja. The film's track Oh Priya Oh Priya was a super duper hit. While the Telugu version was sung by SP Balasubrahmanyam and KS Chithra, the Tamil version was sung by Mano and KS Chithra. The song was used in the Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit-starrer Dil (1990).
