Kolkata: Before the panchayat elections, the police of Basanti police station of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal has got a big success. The police raided here overnight and recovered a huge amount of weapons. The incident took place on Friday (April 28) night in Kalhajra village under Ramchandrakhali gram panchayat of Basanti police station. On the basis of secret information, Baruipur District Special Operation Group (SOG) and Basanti police station raided the house of Motaleb Purkait alias Hasa late night.

According to the report, during the raid, the police recovered firearms making equipment including 7 guns. Motaleb and one of his accomplices Zainal Mulla have been arrested in this incident. Presenting him in the court today, a request has been made for his police custody. This incident has spread sensation in the area. In a press conference at the Baruipur Superintendent of Police (SP) office on Saturday, SP Pushpa said why firearms were being made and where there was preparation to sell them. After ascertaining this, the arrested people will be taken to Alipore court and the rest of the people involved in the gang will be searched.

Before the Panchayat elections, the district police is considering it a big success. Along with this, illegal weapons have been recovered from different areas of Baruipur police district almost every day. On Friday night, the police seized several firearms and several weapon-making equipment. SP Pushpa of Baruipur police district has said, whether the arrested people have any connection with Munger in Bihar or not. It is being verified. Along with this, who else is involved in this illegal firearms business, it is being investigated.
