New Delhi: Indian Doctors Association (IMA) chief Dr. J A Jayalal has termed the civil case filed against him for alleged derogatory remarks against Ayurveda as a "comprehensive plan to harass allopathic doctors". He said the petition prevents them from exercising the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression enshrined in the Constitution. The petition urged for a public apology for hurting the sentiments of those who believe in Ayurveda.

'The complaint is part of a detailed plan of a particular section of people to prevent allopathic doctors from harassing and exercising their own fundamental rights,' Jayalal said in response to 212 pages on the case of IMA and its general secretary Jayesh Lele. IMA in its reply on July 30 called the allegations nonsense, unsubstantiated, and non-sustaining before the law. Jayalal, IMA, Lele, National Medical Association, and Bureau of Indian Standards are the rescuers in the case.

Civil Judge Diksha Rao of the Tis Hazari court has directed the rest of the rescuers to file their replies on the case by September 29. A man named Rajendra Singh Rajput has filed the case urging Jayalal and others not to make derogatory statements against the treatment of Ayurveda and also urged them to apologize for hurting the sentiments of those who believe in Ayurveda.
