The counting of votes in the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) election for the post of 85 corporators and mayor on Sunday at Nehru Stadium, will begin at 9 am. First the counting of postal ballots will take place and then from 9.30 am the counting of votes from EVMs will begin. The counting of votes will be done ward wise.

Over  1000 officers and employees has been deployed to ensure the counting goes smoothly. As per the instructions of the State Election commission, the counting of the election duty certificates  or ballot paper will started from 9 am and the counting from the EVM machine will be started half an hour later that i.e. from 9:30 am. Earlier, collector and district election officer Manish Singh inspected the counting halls at Nehru Stadium on Thursday.

Though there are 85 wards, there are 97 tables, as an additional table will be used in wards where there are more than 32 polling stations. The counting of votes would be done in the closed hall as rain is likely on counting day. Screens are also being installed in the premises outside the stadium for the convenience of the counting agents.

Collector Singh directed all the officers to ensure all necessary arrangements as per the guidelines issued by the Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission. Singh discussed seating arrangement for the candidates and their agents. Additional collector Abhay Bedekar, deputy district election officer Munish Singh Sikarwar and joint collector Pratul Chandra Sinha and other officers and employees were present on this occasion.
