BHOPAL: On Wednesday, voting for the second phase of elections took place under tight security in 169 Nagar Parishads, 40 Municipal Councils, and 5 Municipal Corporations.

In 43 of the state's districts, about 7,000 polling places have been put up for voting, according to the State Election Commission (SEC). 1,627 of those voting places have been designated as sensitive. To ensure free and fair elections, around 17,000 police officers have been deployed. 34,000 duty officers and other people have also been deployed in addition to this. The commission has been working to get voters slips to eligible voters in the interim.

It was reported that after the first phase of municipal polls that covered Indore and Bhopal, the ruling BJP had blamed the election commission for not distributing voter's slip due to which voting percentage was recorded low, especially in Bhopal.

Katni, Rewa, Dewas, Ratlam, and Morena are the five municipal corporations where voting is being held for the posts of mayor and cooperators. The voting, which started at 7 am., will end at 5 pm. On Wednesday during the second and last phase of the civic elections, 49.9 lakh voters will decide the fate of these candidates. 25.20 lakh of these voters are men, 23.88 lakh are women, and 292 are voters who identify as a third gender.

There are 2.52 lakh voters in Morena municipal corporation, 1.71 lakh in Rewa, 1.93 lakh in Katni, 2.39 lakh in Dewas, and 1.21 lakh in Ratlam municipal corporation, out of the five municipal corporations.
