Pakistan PM Imran Khan's party on Saturday issued a notice under the defection law to its alleged dissident lawmakers. The notice from these MPs has sought clarifications by March 26 as to why they should not be disqualified as members of the National Assembly as defectors. About two dozen disgruntled MPs of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party have come out in the open ahead of the vote on the no-confidence motion recently moved against PM Imran Khan.
MPs are seen opposing their own government and have gone to the camp of opposition leaders. The government has accused the opposition parties of buying and selling of MPs. The dissident lawmakers are living in Islamabad's Sindh House which is the property of the Sindh government and is run by the Pakistan People's Party (PPP). Pakistan People's Party has a government in Sindh province.
According to a report received, one of the notices issued to MP Muhammad Afzal Khan Dhandla, who moved a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister on March 8, states: "It has been revealed through a large-scale broadcast and video circulated on all media platforms that you have left Pakistan's party Tehreek-e-Insaf and joined the opposition party. According to sources, the dissident MPs of PTI present at Sindh House include Raja Riaz, Nawab Sher Wasir, Rana Qasim Noon, Gaffar Wattu, Noor Alam Khan, Riyaz Mazari, Basit Bukhari, Khwaja Sheraj, Ahmed Hasan Dehar, Nuzhat Pathan, Ramesh Kumar and Wajiha Akram. These names are also reported to Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan.
