A matter has come to light in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. Panic spread outside the Odisha Legislative Assembly building when the youth pulled out a knife and threatened to cut his mother's throat outside the assembly. He had alleged some ministers in the ruling BJD government of corruption.
However, the police rescued the woman, resident of Nayagarh district during the entire episode. Police said that according to the woman, her son was suffering from mental illnesses and she was taking him to the hospital. Police said that the mother-son duo was traveling in an auto-rickshaw. As he passed the assembly building, the son suddenly pulled out a knife from his bag, got down from the auto, and threatened to cut his mother's throat.
He started shouting slogans accusing some ministers of corruption in the ruling government. The police rescued the woman from his clutches. He was arrested for questioning. DCP Umashankar Dash of Bhubaneswar said, "The young man is mentally unstable and inconsistent. According to the mother, he is undergoing treatment and they were going to the hospital. While passing through the secretariat route, where security forces are deployed and the media was also present. The two stopped and suddenly the son took out a knife from his bag and put it in on his mother's throat."
