Poonam Dhillon, a beautiful actress of the past, was born on this day i.e. April 18, 1962 in Kanpur, UP. Her father was an aircraft engineer in the Indian Air Force. Poonam Dhillon was supposed to become a doctor at one time, but fate had something else in store.

In the year 1978, Poonam Dhillon won the title of Miss India at the age of 16. One day, director Yash Chopra's eyes fell on Poonam and he even offered his movie 'Trishul' to 16-year-old Poonam. In this movie, she got a special opportunity to work with famous stars like actors Sanjeev Kumar, Shashi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan. In this movie, Poonam Dhillon played the role of Sanjeev Kumar's daughter and Sister of Shashi Kapoor-Amitabh Bachchan.

In the movie, Poonam had grabbed everyone's attention with her brilliant acting. After Trishul, Yash Chopra had cast Poonam Dhillon along with FarooqUe Shaikh in his production house's movie Noori. People were crazy about Poonam's beauty in Noori. For this movie, Poonam was also nominated for Best Actress at the Filmfare Awards. After which Poonam appeared in many  movies. In 1988, Poonam married movie producer Ashok Thakeria. Ashok and Poonam have two children, a son and a daughter. After marriage, Poonam did not work in the movie for about 5 years. However, the relationship did not last long and the two divorced in 1997. After this, Poonam started living separately with her two children.

In the year 1997, Poonam once again made a comeback in Bollywood with the film 'Zindai'. Among the major films of Poonam Dhillon, Dard, Basera, Teri Kasam, Naam, Karma, Dil Bole Hadippa, Ramaiya Vastavaiya etc. are included in this list. Apart from the movie, Poonam was also seen on the small screen. Poonam has also become a contestant of 'Bigg Boss' season 3. She was the second runner-up of Bigg Boss 3. Along with this, she worked in many serials like 'Andaaz' and 'Kitty Party'.
