Before the April 2 meeting, there will also be a meeting of the technical experts on March 19, 2019, at the proposed zero points to finalise the alignment. The meeting was held in the wake of rising tension between both the countries due to the February 14 Pulwama attack in which 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were martyred.

Meanwhile, a day before the meeting Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday met Khalistani separatist and chief of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC) Gopal Singh Chawla. Last year in April, photographs surfaced in which Chawla could be seen with Jammat-Ud Dawah (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed.
