Delhi HC sends notice to Anurag Thakur including Sonia, in riots case

New Delhi: The High Court has taken a big step in the Delhi riots case. The Delhi High Court has also sent notices to several prominent political figures. By sending a notice, the court has also questioned them about the prosecution as a party to the riot case. The Delhi High Court has sent notices to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, MP Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in the riots case. Notices have also been submitted to several senior BJP leaders. Union Minister Anurag Thakur, BJP MPs Parvez Verma and Kapil Mishra are also among them.

According to media reports, the Delhi High Court has given only time till March 4 to file a reply to the notice issued by the Delhi High Court. The notice was given by the court after hearing a petition filed by it. In fact, a petition was filed in the Delhi High Court in the riot case. The petitioner has also sought registration of an FIR against several politicians and others in the rioting case. In the last hearing, the Delhi High Court had asked if these were the same people against whom the allegations have been levelled. The court asked if these people were the parties in the case.

Riots that broke out on February 23, 2020: The Delhi High Court had asked if further action could be taken on the plea for detention without listening to them. According to reports, the riots started in Delhi on February 23, 2020. As of February 26, about 53 people had lost their lives in the riots. Around 581 people were injured in the riots in North East Delhi. Police had registered 755 FIRs in the riots case. Some of the cases registered are still being heard in the Delhi High Court, The Karkardooma Court.
