VARANASI: Swami Shivananda, a 125-year-old seer, received his second dose of the vaccine earlier this week, dismissing all preconceptions. The seer is said to be the vaccine's oldest recipient. The seer received the injection at Durgakund, the CMO office's urban community health centre. Swami Shivananda later told reporters that Yoga is the key to his long life.

The seer revealed that he practises Yoga every day and eats a low-fat, low-spice diet. His companion informed him that the seer lives alone, that he is still healthy, and that no diseases have been reported in him. Swami Shivananda has been residing in Kashi for several years, according to in-charge Medical Officer Dr Sarika Rai. The first dose was given to him on June 9.

When the health workers looked at his Aadhaar card and voter ID card, they were surprised to see that his date of birth was August 8, 1896. Swami Shivananda was born in the Bengali district of Srihatt and has lived in Kabir Nagar Colony in Bhelupur, Varanasi, for nearly 40 years.
