ADEN: A landmine explosion in Yemen's northwestern region of Hajjah killed at least 10 soldiers from pro-government Yemeni forces, according to a local military source.

"A landmine laid by the Houthi rebels in Hajjah's vital region of Haradh near Saudi Arabia's border exploded, killing at least 10 pro-government soldiers," the source added on condition of anonymity.

According to state news report, the bomb destroyed a military vehicle belonging to pro-government forces on the scene, and the Houthi rebels laid hundreds of landmines in the vicinity to stymie government forces' advance.

Yemeni government forces have been involved in fierce engagements with Houthi fighters in Haradh recently, under the cover of increased bombings by the Saudi-led coalition.
