Lucknow: Raids are underway in various districts of the state ahead of the UP assembly elections. After the raid on perfume traders in Kannauj, shoe traders in Agra and former IPS in Noida, now the income tax department team has been investigating the famous gold and silver jewellers in Kanpur for 24 hours. It is being told that the team has recovered cash worth crores of rupees, but the jewellers are not able to give an account of where the cash came from. 

An Income Tax department official had arrived to raid the residence of Kanpur-based businessman Rajendra Agarwal at Swarup Nagar and Civil Lines and a showroom popularly known as Gold and Silver at Birhana Road. The Income Tax department team has been conducting raids here for the last 24 hours. During this time, the income tax department team has recovered undisclosed cash worth crores of rupees. which is being questioned. According to sources, Rajender Agarwal is not even giving this correct answer regarding this cash. 

The raids of the Income Tax Department and DGGI on the premises of famous perfume trader Piyush Jain had created a political storm in UP. During days of raids at Piyush Jain's locations in Kanpur and Kannauj, more than Rs 200 crore in cash and several kilograms of gold and silver were found.
