India and Thailand Celebrate Successful Completion of 'Maitree' Military Exercise

Maitree 2024 Conclusion: The 13th edition of the joint military exercise "Maitree 2024" between the Indian Army and the Royal Thailand Army concluded with a grand closing ceremony in Tak Province, Thailand. This event marks another milestone in the robust defense cooperation between the two nations.

The closing ceremony was honored by the presence of Major General Narongrit Panikabutr, Commander of the 4th Infantry Division of the Royal Thailand Army, who served as the Chief Guest. From the Indian side, Group Captain Brijesh Paul, the Defence Attache to Thailand, was the Guest of Honour.

Major General Panikabutr praised the dedication and professionalism displayed by both armies throughout the exercise. He emphasized that Maitree 2024 plays a significant role in strengthening defense ties between India and Thailand, reflecting their shared commitment to regional security and peace under the United Nations charter.

During the two-week-long exercise, troops from both nations engaged in intensive training and collaborative activities. These sessions included weapon training, day and night firing exercises, rappelling, jungle survival techniques, navigation training, communication exercises, combat first aid, and casualty evacuation drills. Such comprehensive training not only enhanced the tactical skills of the participants but also fostered a deeper bond of friendship between the two armed forces.

Lieutenant Colonel Mandan Ojha, the Contingent Commander of the Indian Army, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Royal Thailand Army for their hospitality. He highlighted the mutual benefits derived from sharing best practices and expertise, which have significantly boosted the operational capabilities of both armies.

In a post on social media platform X, the Indian Army shared, "Exercise #MAITREE_2024: The 13th edition of the Joint Military Exercise #MAITREE between #IndianArmy & #RoyalThailandArmy concluded today at Fort Vachiraprakan, Tak Province in #Thailand. The exercise facilitated enhanced synergy in conducting joint tactical operations in jungle and urban environments and bolstered interoperability between both Armed Forces."

The Maitree 2024 exercise has indeed succeeded in bolstering interoperability and enhancing the tactical prowess of the participating contingents. Moreover, it has reinforced the enduring friendship and cooperation between India and Thailand, setting a solid foundation for future collaborative efforts in maintaining regional peace and security.
