Islamabad: The Foreign Ministry has summoned a senior official of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi on Friday (17 January) to express strong opposition to the kidnapping of minor girls from minority Hindu communities in Pakistan. The Ministry of External Affairs has expressed serious concern to the Pakistani official on the abduction cases of the girls.

Sources in Islamabad say that Shanti Meghwal and Sarmi Meghwal, two minor girls belonging to a minority Hindu community, were abducted on 14 January. She hails from Umar village in Sindh, Pakistan. Apart from this, in another incident on January 15, a minor girl belonging to Hindu community from Jacobabad district of Sindh province, Mehak was abducted.

These incidents have been strongly condemned by India, and the girls have been asked to bring them back to their families immediately. Let us tell you that minority communities are being persecuted in Pakistan and the local administration does not seem to be taking any concrete action on this. At the same time, a lot of resentment is being witnessed in these neighboring countries.
