New cases come down but 4,194 lost lives in last 24 hours

New Delhi: 2,57,299 new cases of corona virus infection have been registered in the country. According to the Union Health Ministry, the total number of infected cases has gone up to 2,62,89,290 after the new cases came in, with 2.30 crore people recovering. The recovery rate in the country is 87.76 per cent. Corona infection skilled 4,194 people in the last 24 hours.

The total number of active cases in the country has come down to 29,23,400, which is about 11 per cent of the total cases of infection. According to the Health Ministry, 295,525 people have lost their lives so far due to corona virus in the country. Today is the sixth consecutive day when new cases of infection have come down to less than 3 million. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 20,66,285 samples were tested across the country on Friday, the highest ever. Over 20 million samples have been continuously tested in the country for the last 4 days.

Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal are currently the highest number of cases in the country. Tamil Nadu had reported 36,184 new cases and 467 deaths on Friday. The number of active cases in the state is 2,74,629. In Karnataka, 32,218 new corona cases were reported and 353 deaths were reported. The number of active cases in the state is 5.14 lakh and a total of 24,207 people have died so far.
