ADELAIDE: Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh, thinks that the Rohit Sharma-led team is the favourite to win Wednesday's match and that if his team defeats the 2007 champions, it will be considered an upset. This is on the eve of their Super 12 encounter in the T20 World Cup versus India.
In a critical Group 2 match against Bangladesh on Wednesday at the picturesque Adelaide Oval, India will be looking to rebound after being completely outclassed by South Africa's pace and bounce in a five-wicket loss in Perth.
On the other side, Bangladesh enters the game fresh off a thrilling three-run victory over Zimbabwe in Brisbane. India and Bangladesh have competed in 11 T20I matches, with India winning 10 and Bangladesh only one.
In the pre-game press conference, Shakib stated, "India is the favourite team; they (have) come here to win the (T20) World Cup, whereas we are not the favourite; and we know the situation very well. If we can win against India, it will (be) called an upset. We will try to play our best cricket and try to make an upset."
The Bangladeshi captain continued by discussing the contest with India: "I anticipate a packed house because India receives enthusiastic crowds everywhere they play. It looks like a fun game. India is the match's favourite going into it. We are not here to win the World Cup; they have come here to do so. You can see how things stand; a victory over India would be a shock, therefore we'll do everything in our power to surprise them."
