India now has 961 Omicron cases, Delhi leading the way with 263 cases

NEW DELHI: India's Omicron tally jumped to 961 on Thursday after 180 new case of highly transmissible Covid variant Omicron were discovered in the last 24 hours. After their recovery, 320 of them were released.

So far, the national capital has the most Omicron infection cases with 263, followed by Maharashtra with 252. The Omicron infection has now spread to 22 states and union territories, according to the Union health ministry on Thursday morning (UTs). Only 57 of the 263 Omicron cases discovered in Delhi have been discharged. Gujarat has the third-largest number of Omicron instances in India, at 97.

Rajasthan, for example, has reported 69 Omicron cases thus far, while Kerala has reported 65. In Telangana, 62 people have tested positive for Omicron, while 45 people have tested positive in Tamil Nadu. There are 34 cases in Karnataka. However, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha each have nine Omicron cases, while Uttarakhand has four, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir each have three, Uttar Pradesh has two, and Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Manipur, and Punjab each have one.

The infection incidence in Delhi has risen to 1.29 percent, resulting in a significant increase in daily Covid caseload. On Wednesday, Delhi reported 923 new Covid cases, the largest single-day increase since May 30, when the total was 946. The latest cases have brought the total number of infections in the city to 14,45,102.
