New Delhi: The surge in corona cases is knocking the 'third wave', on one hand the cases of Omicron are increasing at a fast pace and on the other hand the number of corona infected is also increasing from state to state. New year celebrations have been banned in Mumbai. Section 144 has also been imposed in entire Mumbai. This will start from Thursday and will remain in force till January 7, 2022. Apart from this, any type of celebrations have been prohibited in any open place, restaurants, hotels, banquet halls, bars, clubs etc. on New Year's Eve in the city.

Meanwhile, Delhi registered 923 fresh cases on Wednesday, which is almost double the 496 found a day earlier. 2,510 cases have been registered in Mumbai while 400 new cases have been reported in Bangalore, 540 in Kolkata and 294 in Chennai. Apart from this, for the first time after almost six months, more than 100 new cases have been found in Rajasthan. There is also an increase in Omicron cases, 5 new cases of Omicron have been found in Karnataka while a new case has also been found in Punjab. Restrictions have been started in many states of the country and in some states it is being considered.
