India's naval exercise with Thailand and Singapore ending today

New Delhi: Naval military exercise of three countries being carried out by India along with Thailand and Singapore in the Andaman Sea will be completed on Friday. The purpose of the drill is to test maritime reciprocity between the navies of three countries in the Indian Ocean region. The two-day maritime exercise of Singapore, India, Thailand Maritime Exercise (SITMEX) began on Thursday.

Navy officials said that three Indian ships including INS Ranveer, a guided-missile destroyer; INS Kora, a missile corvette and INS Sumedha, an offshore Patrol Vessel, are participating in the exercise. India's long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft P-8I has also been deployed in this maritime exercise.

An official has told that 'Various ammunition, force security measures, air defence and communication exercises are being organized. Along with this, war exercises including cross-boarding operations and surface target shooting have also been organized. In the port phase of the exercise held at Port Blair, there was a commercial dialogue between the naval teams of the three countries. A sports and food festival was also organized in the practice of this phase.
