New Delhi: Ducati, an Italian motorcycle brand, will introduce its most off-road-oriented two-wheeler the DesertX on Monday (December 12) in an effort to broaden its lineup in India.
Few dealerships have already started taking reservations ahead of its arrival on our shores. The ADV uses the same 937cc liquid-cooled L-twin engine from the Monster and Multistrada V2 models, which is already available in several international markets.
Ducati, the maker of ADVs, has showcased its prowess in cross-country competitions like the Dakar Rally and has won several victories.

The Multistrada line of motorcycles is well received by adventure touring enthusiasts in India.
The DesertX model has also received positive reviews from around the world, and the company is now attempting to woo serious off-road enthusiasts to our shores by introducing the motorcycle here.
The Ducati DesertX is a semi-faired bike with split-type seats, a mighty 21-litre fuel tank, an optional additional rear-mounted fuel tank, twin-pod headlights, a tall windscreen, side-slung exhaust and a stylish LED taillight. Taillight, similar to the Dakar race bike.

The two-wheeler gets a 5.0-inch TFT instrument cluster and rolls on heavy-duty wire-spoke wheels that measure 21-inch at the front and 18-inch at the rear.
The 937cc, Testastrata, liquid-cooled, L-twin engine that powers the Ducati DesertX has a maximum output of 110 horsepower and 92 Nm of maximum torque. A 6-speed gearbox with bi-directional quick-shifter is mated to the mill.
The Ducati DesertX features disc brakes on both front and rear wheels, along with cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control and offroad riding modes, all designed for the safety of the rider.

The ADV gets fully adjustable KYB inverted forks at the front and a fully adjustable KYB mono-shock unit at the rear handling suspension duties.
Ducati will announce the price and availability of the DesertX when it is launched in India on Monday. For comparison, the ADV costs $16,795 (roughly Rs. 13.84 lakh) when bought in the US.
