New Delhi: An FIR has been registered against the 'Bulli Bai' app that misuses photographs of Muslim women. Taking cognizance of the matter, India's IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Government of India is working with Delhi and Mumbai Police to take action in the matter. Earlier, the Union Minister had said that Github, the hosting platform of Bulli Bai App, has blocked the user himself.

According to media reports, senior government officials have informed that the Indian computer emergency response system (CERT) and police officials are cooperating with them for further action. Instructions have been issued to set up a high-level committee to look into the matter and coordinate with the cyber cell. Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, who complained about the matter, said, "A case has been registered against the developer of Bulli Bai App and who handled Twitter account under Section 153 (A), 153 (B), 295 (A), 354D, 509, 500 and Section 67 of the IT Act at the cyber police station in the western region in Mumbai which was hosted at Github.''

At the same time, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has also asked Delhi Police to take action in the matter. Commission Chairman Rekha Sharma took cognizance of the matter following a complaint by Ismat Ara. Ismat claimed that she too had fallen prey to the app. She had later said that cyber police of South East Delhi have registered an FIR in the case. IPC, the case has been registered under sections 153A, 153B, 354A and 509.

What is Bully Bai App?

'Bulli Bai' was an app that was built on Github API and worked like the 'Suli Deal' app. Objectionable photographs of Muslim women were being posted and auctioned on an application called Bulli Bai on the Github app. However, its Twitter account has been suspended from disclosure. Its bio read, 'Bulli Bai Khalsa is an open-source app operated by a community of Sikh Force (KSF). Its Twitter location status showed that the account was operating from the US.'
