New Delhi: The country's first CDS General Bipin Rawat will be honoured with Padma Vibhushan on March 21. It has been announced to confer this honour on him posthumously. On March 21, his daughters Kritika and Tarini will receive this honour from President Ram Nath Kovind. The Padma awards will be presented by the President on March 21 and 28 this year. On 26 January, 128 people were announced to be honoured with Padma Awards. Of these, four will be honoured with Padma Vibhushan, 17 for Padma Bhushan and 107 for Padma Shri.
 
CDS General Rawat died in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu on December 8 last year. Let us know that the Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest civilian honour given by the Government of India. General Bipin Rawat was given the responsibility of the country's first CDS on December 31, 2019. Prior to being given the rank of CDS, he was the country's 27th Army chief. 

Laxman Singh Rawat, father of CDS General Bipin Rawat, who hails from San village in Pauri Garhwal in Uttarakhand, had also retired from the post of deputy army chief in the Army. General Bipin Rawat had studied at St. Edward's School in Shimla and The National Defence Academy, Kharagwasla. In December 1978, he was commissioned from the Indian Military Academy into the fifth battalion of the Gorkha Rifles.
