From the beginning of April, Pune-based My Lab Discovery Solutions produced 20,000 kits used for the testing of coronavirus disease. Now it has increased its production to two lakhs. She is doing this in collaboration with Serum Institute of India. This will meet the needs of India's testing kit, which is expected to reach one lakh by the end of this month. India will no longer need to import test kits from abroad.

For your information, let us tell you that Mylab was one of the first local companies to get approval from Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) to produce test kits. CDSCO has now approved six other companies to manufacture test kits. All these meet the criteria of the Indian Council of Medical Research. Currently, India is examining 75,000-80,000 samples daily through RT-PCR.

Apart from this, by the end of May, India aims to test one lakh samples daily. So far, Mylab Discovery Solutions has supplied 650,000 test kits to around 140 laboratories and hospitals in 20 states. Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India said, “It has been awe-inspiring to me to see our efforts together with Mylab which is making India self-reliant in combating covid-19. Our production has increased from 20 thousand to two lakh daily. Now we will be able to meet India's growing demand.
