MP: Rajasthan gets Red Alert from heavy rains, no relief in UP too

New Delhi: The entire country has been receiving sharp and moderate rainfall since the monsoon became active. Heavy rains have also caused landslides at some places and loss of life and property at some places. According to MET Weather, southwest monsoon 2021 has recorded normal rainfall in the first half of the season.

The normal average rainfall during June 1- July 31 has been recorded at 449 mm against 452.2 mm. The total rainfall recorded so far has been 99.3 percent of the long-term average (LPA). Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in west Madhya Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan during the next 72 hours. Rain is expected to pick up in Punjab, Haryana, and hilly states including Delhi from August 5. Several rivers are overflowing in some states of the country following heavy rains. The MET department has predicted rain in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Andaman, and Nicobar, Konkan, and Goa today.

A red alert has been sounded in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh for 2nd August to 5th August in view of the possibility of heavy rains. IMD has issued an alert in view of the possibility of heavy rain in Banda, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Agra, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Etawah, and Jalaun in UP. According to the MET department, UP is not going to get relief from rain till 5th August. Light to moderate rain has been recorded in various districts of the state in the last 24 hours.
