New Delhi: While monsoon rains have created flood-like conditions in many states of the country, monsoon is still awaited in many states, while the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has now said that the monsoon has slowed down across the country, which may now require people, especially Delhiites, to wait for the monsoon rains.

According to IMD, the monsoon has slowed down, though it has covered many parts of the country except Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab and is now moving towards northwest India. However, as the remaining parts of the country are unlikely to progress further in the last week of June, Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana will now have to wait till July 1 for the monsoon.

The monsoon rains, which were 40 percent higher than normal till June 18, have now come down compared to last week but are unlikely to increase significantly before the first week of July. Though the monsoon may be late, pre-monsoon activities will continue in these States of the country, though the heatwave will also be witnessed. In Delhi-Punjab and Haryana, the mercury is likely to cross 40 and beyond.
