New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi felicitated India's Paralympic team at his residence on Thursday for breakfast and the players gifted him a stole they signed. The Indian para-athlete returned from Tokyo after winning a total of 19 medals, including five gold, eight silver, and six bronze medals, India's best performance in sports so far. India finished 24th in the medal tally.

All the medal winners presented their signature white stole to PM Modi which he was wearing around his neck. PM Modi, who was the first to congratulate para-athletes on the phone after winning medals, badminton players were seen talking to silver medallist Noida district magistrate Suhas Yathiraj, gold medal winner Krishna Nagar and young Palak Kohli. In badminton, which was included for the first time in the Paralympics, Indians won four medals, including two gold. Shooters Avani Lekhra and Singhraj Adana were also seen talking to PM Modi. Both have won two medals.

Lekhra created history by winning a gold and a bronze medal at the Paralympics even after she was paralyzed in the lower back after an accident. Adana, 39, who suffered polio as a child, won a silver and a bronze medal. PM Modi also held discussions with veteran javelin player Devendra Jhajhadia and high jump player Mariyappan Thangavelu. Both won silver medals. Table tennis player Bhavina Patel and archer Harvinder Singh were also seen in the pictures. Patel has won silver and Singh has won bronze medals.
