Kolkata: BJP is likely to field BJP's Priyanka Tibrewal in front of CM Mamata Banerjee from Bhavanipur seat in the proposed assembly by-election in West Bengal. According to media reports, the BJP is likely to announce the name of advocate Priyanka Tibrewal from the hottest seat in West Bengal today. Tibrewal has also been a legal adviser to BJP MP Babul Supriyo. It was at the behest of Babul Supriyo that Priyanka Tibrewal suppressed the BJP in 2014.

In 2015, Priyanka contested the Kolkata Municipal Council election from Ward No. 58 as a BJP candidate, but she suffered a setback at the hands of Trinamool Congress Swapna Samdar. Priyanka, who joined the BJP, has been in the fray for six years but has held on several important fronts. In August 2020, she was made vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in West Bengal. This year she also contested the assembly elections from Antly. However, in this election, she lost to TMC's Swarna Kamal Saha by 58,257 votes.
