New Delhi: In view of increasing cases of corona epidemic and lack of beds in the hospital, the railways have changed the coaches of trains to isolation wards. Indian Railways has prepared 5231 coaches as additional infrastructure to quarantine the corona infected. These coaches will be deployed as per the need, at the request of the state governments.

Railways will be responsible for maintenance of coaches of converted trains in Kovid Care Center, while medical facilities will be provided by the State Governments. Negotiations were held with the NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare before converting the railway coaches into Covid Care Centers. Railways said that according to NITI Aayog and Health Ministry, Non-AC coaches are more suitable for corona infection control than AC coaches.

Railways are using new methods such as 'bubble wraps' in addition to heat-retaining paints and bamboo chicks, to keep the coaches of the transformed trains at the Covid Care Center cool. Railways said that these coaches are being covered with sheets so that it can remain cool from inside. According to news agency PTI, bubble wrap films ie bubble polythene are also being wrapped on cartons, through which the temperature inside the compartment is expected to be reduced by one degree Celsius.
