New Delhi: India's large population travels by train every day. Train services have been greatly changed since the onset of corona infection. Due to this, railways also suffered huge losses due to the impact of trains for several months. Indian Railways has now announced an increase in the prices of platform tickets at some stations. However, these tickets will remain expensive till January 20 due to the Makar Sankranti festival.
According to south-central railway notification, the prices of platform tickets are being temporarily increased at Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Lingampally and other important stations of Begumpet and Secunderabad divisions. South Central Railway said, "Ticket prices have been temporarily increased to control congestion on the platform in a good way and avoid inconvenience to passengers. The fare hike is also a precautionary measure against the spread of corona due to the upcoming festive season.'' The prices of platform tickets have been doubled at major railway stations in the Secunderabad division. The price of platform tickets at these stations before the hike was Rs 10.
Meanwhile, the Railway Board has decided to charge a station development fee (SDF) or user fee between Rs 10 and Rs 50 from people to avail facilities at stations where services have been improved or will be done in future. This price will be added only at the time of booking of tickets, such as at the time of booking of flight tickets. The user fee will be charged under three categories, Rs 50 for AC class, Rs 25 for sleeper class and a minimum of Rs 10 for unreserved class.
