New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully tested a hybrid motor. This test will greatly help in sending launch vehicles i.e. rockets to space because due to this motor, when the rocket is launched, this motor will provide more energy to the rocket and the rocket will be able to push into the position of gravitational force at a faster speed than before.
The 30 kN hybrid motor was tested at the ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC) in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, which was successful, ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru has informed. ISRO's Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) collaborated in the test, the organisation said. Hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) was used as fuel in the motor, the statement said. ISRO said that unlike solid-solid or liquid-liquid mixtures, the hybrid motor uses solid fuel and liquid oxygen, due to which it can prove to be more effective than previous motors.
ISRO has informed that during the testing of the 30kN hybrid motor on Tuesday, this motor worked continuously for 15 seconds and its performance was very good. ISRO says that it is easier to manage HTPB and liquid oxygen in the rocket sent to space. This fuel will be used in this motor.
