Indian techie Srinivas Kuchibhotla’s killer sentenced to life imprisonment

WASHINGTON: A US Navy veteran who killed Indian engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla in a racially motivated extreme dislike crime at a bar in Kansas City last year has been sentenced to life in prison as THE HINDU reported.

In March this year, 52 year old Adam Purinton, had convicted to the charges of murdering Kuchibhotla.

He had charges with first-degree murder of the 32 year old, Kuchibhotla, and two counts of attempted first-degree murder in the open shootings of his friend, Alok Madasani, and a witness, who chased Purinton after he run away the Austin's Bar and Grill in Olathe city on February 22, 2017.

Purinton, shouted, "Get out of my country," prior to shoot Kuchibhotla, who soon after died from injuries sustained in the attack.

Earlier a day a federal judge in Kansas sentenced Purinton to life in prison for the first-degree murder of Kuchibhotla and 165 months imprisonment for each of the other two murder attampts.

Purinton still faces federal hate crime charges for the shooting and is listed for a change of plea hearing on May 21.

After the shooting, Purinton drove 110 kilometers to Clinton, Missouri, where he admitted the shooting to a bartender at a restaurant.
