New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday morning that the pressure over the Northeast and adjoining East-Central Bay of Bengal has turned into a deeper pressure and will intensify into a cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours. Issuing cyclone alerts for Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, the MET department has said that the system is expected to cross south Odisha and north AP coasts around Kalingapatnam by the evening of September 26.

On the coast of northern Andhra Pradesh and adjoining southern Odisha, a cyclone is seen forming in eastern Madhya Pradesh and the upper part of the wind around it. This is because the Bay of Bengal has become a deep and low-pressure area of air. According to the MET department, the formation of this cyclonic structure is likely to bring heavy rain in eastern Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat state and Konkan and Goa during the next 5 days.

At the same time, some districts of Odisha may receive scattered, heavy to very heavy (12-20 cm) rainfall on September 26 and 27. IMD also said that heavy rain is expected between 8 am on September 25 and 8 am on September 26 at various places in Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh and Ganjam districts. Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy (more than 20 cm) has been predicted at some places between 8 am on September 26 and 8 am on September 27 in Kandhamal, Ganjam, Rayagada and Gajapati.
